Adamawa Approves ₦1.63 Billion for CT Scan Facility in Michika.
YOLA, Adamawa State — October 24, 2026
The Adamawa State Government has approved more than ₦1.63 billion for the construction of a CT scan block and the procurement of a 32-slice CT scan machine for General Hospital, Michika.
The approval forms part of contracts worth more than ₦5.6 billion approved by the State Executive Council for projects covering healthcare, education, environmental sanitation, housing and airport infrastructure.
According to a report published by People’s Daily on October 16, the council approved ₦295.7 million for the construction of the CT scan block and approximately ₦1.34 billion for the procurement of the diagnostic machine.
The proposed facility is expected to strengthen diagnostic services at the hospital and improve access to medical investigations for patients in Michika and surrounding communities.
Computed tomography, commonly known as a CT scan, uses specialised imaging equipment to produce detailed pictures of structures inside the body. Such examinations can help medical professionals investigate injuries and diagnose a range of health conditions.
The proposed investment could reduce the need for some patients to travel to other towns or cities for specialised imaging. However, the extent of that benefit will depend on the facility’s completion, installation of the equipment, availability of trained personnel and the cost of examinations.
The government has not been reported as confirming that the machine is already operational. Further information on the construction timeline, staffing arrangements, maintenance plans and expected charges for patients would help establish when residents can begin to benefit from the investment.
The project will therefore be judged not only by the amount approved but also by whether the facility becomes accessible and affordable to patients who need diagnostic services.
