YOLA, Adamawa State — October 24, 2026
The Adamawa State Government has approved the procurement of 300 tractors, the distribution of 34,700 bags of polished rice and the construction of additional roads as part of a new package of development projects across the state.
The approvals were made during the 19th meeting of the State Executive Council in Yola, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, according to a report published by VistaOne News on October 22.
Under the road infrastructure component, the government approved the construction of 11.5 kilometres of the Mubi–Gyela road and 7.3 kilometres of the Gyela–Gude road in Mubi. Road networks at the Mega Secondary School in Lamurde were also approved.
The agricultural component includes the procurement of 300 tractors and NPK 20-10-10 fertiliser for dry-season farming. The government also approved the procurement and distribution of 34,700 bags of 50-kilogramme polished rice to members of the public.
In the transport sector, the council approved the procurement of 10 new Innoson buses, each with a seating capacity of 20 passengers, to complement the state’s Fresh Air public transportation service. The buses are expected to provide residents with access to transport at lower rates.
Other approved projects include additional hostel accommodation at selected tertiary institutions, the installation of a solar mini-grid in Jimeta, Yola North, the furnishing of three mega technical schools and improvements to the water supply system at Adamawa State University’s Abubakar Barde Campus in Mubi.
The announcements cover agriculture, education, transport, electricity, roads and water supply. However, the report did not provide the overall cost of the projects or specific commencement and completion dates.
The implementation of the approvals, particularly the distribution of rice and access to agricultural equipment, will be important in determining the extent to which the projects benefit residents, farmers and other intended beneficiaries.
